Windsurfing: Ythan Estuary, Aberdeen Wind Direction: SE Wind Stength: 15-25 mph Surf / Sea State: Flat, some chop Air Temperature: Cool Sea Temperature: Chilly Weather: Some sunshine Max Speed: Distance Covered:
Got to the water early and wind was hovering between 20 and 25 mph, so
decided to go with the 6.3m and 115L Syncro as the tide was still rushing
in. Got planing relatively easily, but was finding it difficult to get
upwind against the tide, so put 38cm fin on and tweaked the sail to get a
bit more power. This was working fine for a while, but the wind started to
drop off and the tide was still zipping in. Decided the only way to go was
to put up the 8m and this worked fine for most of the afternoon, although I
was never really properly powered up. As the water became too shallow to
sail, the wind, as usual did pick up. A pretty decent day in all, but could
have done with just a couple more knots of wind to make it really good.
Good early planing practice though which is always useful for days like
this in the future.
